Light Coagulation Treatment for Macular Hole

I．緒言

　Schwickerath M．（1958）によつて開発された光凝固の新技術は大きな反響をよびこの新装置は現在広く世界各国に多数設備され，その偉力を発揮している。

　本法は黄斑部孔を初めとして網膜剥離その他の網膜疾患，虹彩病変などに極めて有力のことが知られている。しかし一方合併症もないわけでない。

The results in 14 cases with macular hole and in a case with macular cyst treated with the Xenon light coagulator of the Zeiss were summarized as follows :

(1) Visual acuity improved in 4 cases, was unchanged in 8 and deteriorated in 2 out of 14 cases with macular hole.

(2) Retinal detachments were demonstrated as inially accompanying condition in 5 cases of 14 cases with macular hole. In 4 of 5 ca-ses scleral shortening and drainage of the subretinal fluid were combined before light coagulation. The detachments vanished in all 4 cases. Visual acuity improved in one and was unchangen in 3 out of 4 cases.
