静岡県下における盲学校生徒の失明原因—その4総括（1964年度）

I．緒言

　盲学校生徒の失明原因を調査することは，将来の失明予防対策上きわめて大切なことである。本邦に於ては眼衛生協会が全国盲学校生徒を対象とした莫大な統計資料に基づいて，失明原因を定期的に発表している。このような長年にわたる地道な調査はきわめて有意義なことで，失明原因及びその推移を理解する上に必要なばかりでなく，失明予防とも関連のあることである。しかし，眼科医自ら行なつた検診成績は本邦に於ては意外に少なく，ここ10年間に数氏の報告をみるのみである。著者は静岡県下に於ける盲人調査の一環として，静岡，沼津及び浜松盲学校生徒の検診を行ない，その成績は既に本誌上に発表しておいた。ここにこれらの成績を総括して従来の諸氏の報告と比較し，失明原因が国により，また地域的に差異があるかどうかをしらべてみた。

Ophthalmological examinations were done on 330 attendants of 3 Schools for the Blind (Shizuoka, Numazu and Hamamatsu) and fo-llowing figures were obtained :

1. Out of the 330 subjects studied, 58% were males and 42% were females.

2. 85% were less than 20 years of age.

3. The visual acuity was less than 0.1 in 83% of the cases and was less than 0.02 in 39%.

4. 62% of the cases were congenitally bli-nd.
