A statistical account is given over the oph-thalmological status of attendants of Hama-matsu School for the Blind, Hamamatsu, in Southeast Japan. Among the 85 pupils exa-mined, the results were obtained as follows.

1) There was a preponderance of males over females at the ratio of 63.5% vs. 36.5%.

2) 80% of the pupils aged less than 20 ye-ars.

3) 85.9% had visual acuity of less than 0.1 and 49.1% had less than 0.02.

4) 60% were congenitally blind and 73.8% were practically blind prior to the age of 10 years.
