静岡県下に於ける視覚障害者の検診成績

Mass Survey of Visually Impaired Subjects in Shizuoka Prefecture.

I．緒言

　失明原因の統計的観察は将来の失明予防対策のためにきわめて大切なことである。わが国においても現在までに数多くの統計的研究が報告され，失明の原因及びその推移を理解する上に重要な資料を提供してきた。過去の統計によると，現在のところ伝染性疾患による失明は著しく減少し，先天性眼疾患による失明が相対的に増加している傾向がみられる。しかし，将来失明原因がどのように推移してゆくかは必ずしも予知出来ない問題である。今後もかかる統計的研究をつづけることは是非必要なことであり，且つ興味ある問題であると思う。

　著者は最近3年間に視覚障害者を数多く検診し，幾多の眼疾患を観察する機会に恵まれたので，ここにその検診成績を発表したい。

A report is given over the outcome of mass examination of 1,253 visually impaired persons conducted by the author for the past 3 years in Shizuoka Prefecture, an agricultu-ral area about in the middle of Japan Main-land.

1. Sixty per cent of all examined eyes were totally or practically blind with visual acuity of less than 0.02.

2. Eye disorders of developmental nature played the commonest cause for the visual impairment amounting to 25.6% of all eyes examined.

3. There was a striking frequency of pi-gment degeneration of the retina at 33.6% of all congenital eye disorders.
