In order to detect glaucoma among patients with asthenopic complaints without apparent cause, bulbar compression test (Suda) and diurnal variation studies of the ocular tenison were undertaken in 292 eyes and following results were obtained,

1) 59 eyes (20.2%) still retained an intra-ocular pressure of more than 8 mmHg, a postive finding in Suda's criterion, after hav-ing been compressed with a 50gm weight for 10 minutes.

2) The highest measured ocular tension during repeated visits exceeded 20 mmHg in 96 eyes (32.8%) and 24mmHg in 26 eyes (8.9 %).
