腫瘍内出血による突発性両眼失明（嗅神経窩脳膜腫）

A case of meningioma in the olfactory groove associated with sudden blindness due to haemorrage in the tumor tissue.

　本例は巨大な両側性嗅神経窩脳膜腫内に出血を来し，突発性両眼失明を生じた症例であり，通常吾々が経験する視交叉部附近脳腫瘍の概念から遙かに逸脱している興味ある症例である。

A case of meningioma in the olfactory groove of a 22-year old female who developed sudden blindness as an initial symptom was reported.

The present paper deals with

1) unusual onset, symptoms and course of the disease,

2) angiographic findings of the brains and angiographic differential diagnosis of the from meningioma of tuberculum sellae,

3) operation records, and

4) pathological studies on the tumor.

Sudden blindness of the case appears to be due to compression of chiasma area with the tumor expanded by haemorrhage.
