  • Look Inside

A case of olfactory groove meningioma, in a female of fifty years of age, is reported becauseof rarity of its initial symptom.

Her illness started abruptly with severe sub-arachnoid hemorrhage as the first manifestation. In the first carotid angiogram, a diffuse vesospasm was distinct in the area including left anterior and middle cerebral artery and showed no evidence of aneurysm and arteriovenous malformation or other abnormality. In the second carotid angiogram thevasospasm disappeared whereas a tumor stain was clearly outlined at the base of frontal fossa.

Total removal of the tumor was performed suc-cessfully. The microscopic examination revealed a meningotherial meningioma.

The mechanism of subarachnoid hemorrhage associated with meningioma is briefly discussed.
