Abstract. Purpose:To report imaging analyses of retinal ganglion cell layer(RGCL)thinning followed by retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL)thinning in patients with history of malignancy. Subjects and Methods:This study was made on 184 eyes of 92 patients with history of malignancy, included gastric, esophageal, liver, colon, and kidney cancer, etc. The findings were compared with those in 68 eyes of 34 patients with normal tension glaucoma and 58 eyes of 29 healthy controls. The imaging analyses apparatus was 3D OCT-2000. Results:The significance maps showed RGCL thinning in 96.3% of patients with malignancy. The RNFL thickness around the disc showed thinning in 58.3% of patients with malignancy. Average values of RGCL thickness showed significant thinning(p<0.001)compared with healthy control. Conclusion:The cancer nonspecific thinning of RGCL followed by RNFL in patients with history of malignancy was observed.
