Abstract. Purpose:To report the outcome of simultaneous cataract and vitreous surgery in eyes with macular edema secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion(BRVO). Cases:This study was made on 47 eyes that received simultaneous cataract and vitreous surgery. These eyes had BRVO with macular edema. Power of intraocular lens was calculated by modifying the conventional formula by the difference in foveal thickness between the affected and fellow eye. Results:Postoperative refraction averaged -0.83±0.75D after A mode, -0.12±0.65 after IOLMaster®, and -0.15±0.65D after our modified method. No significant difference was present between the second and third values. Conclusion:Modification of axial length may be useful when planning simultaneous cataract and vitreous surgery on eyes with macular edema.
