Abstract. Purpose:To report the relation between orbital color Doppler findings and central retinal artery(CRA)pressure. Cases and Method:This study was made on 60 eyes of 30 patients suspected of blackout or ocular ischemia. The series comprised 25 males and 5 females. The age ranged from 46 to 85 years. Each eye was evaluated for CRA pressure and orbital color Doppler. Findings:No significant relation was present between orbital color Doppler findings and CRA pressure, or between velocity and pressure of CRA. Ocular ischemic syndrome was present in 8 eyes that showed velocity of ophthalmic artery more than 14.9 cm/sec and that showed velocity of CRA less than 5.4 cm/sec with its pressure less than 55 mmHg. Conclusion:Color Doppler findings of the orbit and CRA pressure are poorly correlated and are not interchangeable. Ocular ischemic syndrome is prone to develop when the CRA pressure is less than 55 mmHg.
