Abstract. Background:Osteoporosis is often treated by systemic raloxifene. Thrombosis is regarded as contraindicated to this treatment. Purpose:To report a case of tuberculous retinal vasculitis detected after start of systemic raloxifene treatment. Case:A 65-year-old female presented with blurring of her left eye since 3 weeks before. She had been receiving raloxifene since 5 weeks before. Findings:Corrected visual acuity was 1.0 in either eye. Both eyes showed retinal vasculitis with hemorrhage. The left eye showed keratic precipitates and nodules in the chamber angle. Tuberculin test was strongly positive. She treated by topical dexamethasone after discontinuation of raloxifene. Fundus findings improved 3 months later. She was diagnosed with tuberculous pleuritis and treated by antituberculous medications. She has been doing well for 15 months until present. Conclusion:There is a possibility that systemic raloxifene served as trigger for manifestation of retinal vasculitis.
