Abstract. Purpose:To report the relationship between intraocular pressure(IOP)and systemic blood pressure, and factors related to IOP. Cases and Method:This study was made on 543 adults who were found to be normal after healthy-check program including glaucoma. The series comprised 312 males and 231 females. The age ranged from 30 to 80 years, average 53 years. Results:IOP was positively correlated with blood pressure during systole(p=0.013)and diastole(p=0.044). IOP was higher in males than females(p<0.0001). IOP was positively correlated with body mass index(BMI)(p=0.0001)and with the degree of myopia(p=0.0004). IOP was not significantly correlated with age or HbA1cvalue in the circulating blood. Conclusion:IOP is positively correlated with systolic or diastolic blood pressure. Blood pressure is a factor that influences IOP in normal adults.
