Abstract. Purpose:To report clinical features and disease-specific characteristics of allergic conjunctivitis in children. Cases and Method:This study was made on 84 cases of allergic conjunctivitis seen during a 2-year period. The series comprised 56 boys and 28 girls aged 15 years or less. Either of 4 scores was given to each of 10 clinical features. Results:There were 49 cases(58%)of allergic conjunctivitis,10 cases(12%)of atopic keratoconjunctivitis,and 25 cases(30%)of vernal keratoconjunctivitis which was more frequent than in adults and which was higher in averaged age than allergic conjunctivitis. The totalled clinical score differed among the 3 entities. Conclusion:Allergic conjunctivits in children shows definite differences in clinical feature among three subgroups. Vernal keratoconjunctivitis occurs at a more advanced age and may reflect remodelling process during formation of proliferation.
