Abstract. Purpose:To report the classification of patients according to the earlier and new diagnostic criteria for sarcoidosis. Cases and Method:A total of 188 patients who were suspected as ocular sarcoidosis during 10 years through 2006 were evaluated according to the earlier and new diagnostic criteria. The series comprised 49 males and 139 females. The age averaged 47.1±18.1 years. Results:According to the revised criteria, rate of patients diagnosed as definite sarcoidosis increased from 45% to 52%. Twenty-three patients were assigned from suspect to definite sarcoidosis. Eleven patients were assigned from clinical to suspect sarcoidosis. All these 11 patients were negative for bilateral hilar lymphadenopathy. Conclusion:In order to improve the rate of diagnosis of sarcoidosis, it is essential to perform detailed systemic examinations.
