Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of conjunctival papilloma treated by instillation of alpha-interferon-2b. Case and Findings:A 30-year-old man presented with timorous lesion in palapebral conjunctiva in both eyes. He had had keratoconus, atopic dermatitis, and hepatitis B. His right eye showed multiple cauliflower-like tumors in the conjunctiva. He was treated by resection of tumor and cryocoagulation. The resected tissue showed DNA for human papillomavirus-11. He then received instillation of alpha-interferon-2b for 13 weeks. The remaining papilloma disappeared after 15 weeks in the right eye and after 2 weeks in the left. There has been no recurrence or complication of the instillation during 27 weeks of follow-up. Conclusion:Topical instillation of alpha-interferon-2b may be effective in the treatment and prevention of recurrence of conjunctival papilloma.
