要約　目的：ヒトアデノウイルスを迅速に診断する装置キャピリア^(R)アデノアイの臨床的評価。対象と方法：研究は国内6施設で行われ，アデノウイルス結膜炎が疑われた患者の結膜擦過物100検体を対象とした。検査には免疫クロマトグラフィ法を用いるキャピリア^(R)アデノアイを使用し，さらに全検体につきPCR法でアデノウイルスの同定を行った。結果：74検体からPCR法でアデノウイルスが検出された。うち60例（81％）がキャピリア^(R)アデノアイで陽性と判定された。残りの26検体にはキャピリア^(R)アデノアイ陽性例はなかった。アデノウイルスの血清型または結膜炎の重症度による感度の差はなかった。キャピリア^(R)アデノアイによる陽性率は，結膜炎の発症から第2と第3病日で80％以上であった。結論：キャピリア^(R)アデノアイはアデノウイルス結膜炎の迅速診断に有用である。

Abstract.　Purpose：To evaluate a newly developed rapid diagnostic kit, Capilia Adeno^(R) Eye, for adenoviral conjunctivitis. Cases and Method：This clinical study was made on 100 patients suspected of adenoviral conjunctivitis in 6 institutions. Conjunctival scrapings from each patient were subjected first to immunochromatography, Capilia Adeno^(R) Eye, and then to polymerase chain reaction（PCR）to identify the adenovirus. Results：PCR showed adenovirus in 74 samples, of which 60（81％）were judged as positive by Capilia Adeno^(R) Eye. PCR showed no adenovirus in the remaining 26 samples, all of which were also negative by Capilia Adeno^(R) Eye. Sensitivity by Capilia Adeno^(R) Eye was independent of serotype of adnovirus or severity of conjunctivitis. Findings by Capilia Adeno^(R) Eye were positive in more than 80％ of cases on day 2 or 3 of conjunctivitis. Conclusion：Capilia Adeno^(R) Eye is useful in the rapid diagnosis of adenovirus conjunctivitis.
