Abstract. Purpose:To report the possibility to control corneal astigmatism after 3mm-incision cataract surgery. Cases and Method:This retrospective study was made on 136 eyes that received 3mm-incision cataract surgery and that could be followed up for 6 months or longer. These eyes were divided into 6 groups according to preoperative corneal astigmatism and method of surgery. Results:Against-the-rule astigmatism decreased more after temporal corneal incision with additional limbal decompression incision than after superior-temporal corneal incision only(p<0.05). There was no significant changes in corneal astigmatism in other groups. Conclusion:Corneal astigmatism does not induce changes after 3mm-incision cataract surgery. Methods are needed to remedy corneal astigmatism prior to surgery.
