Abstract. Purpose:To report the changes in velocity of blood flow in perifoveal capillaries after instillation of latanoprost. Cases and Method:This study was made on 8 eyes of 5 patients with normal-tension glaucoma. Their age ranged from 39 to 56 years, average 47 years. A scanning laser ophthalmoscope was used to measure the velocity of fluorescent dots in perifoveal capillaries during fluorescein angiography. Measurement was made before and after daily instillation of latanoprost for one month. Results:Intraocular pressure decreased significantly after latanoprost instillation. There was no change in systemic blood pressure or ocular perfusion pressure. The velocity of blood flow in perifoveal capillaries increased after instillation of latanoprost(p<0.05). Conclusion:Instillation of latanoprost results in increased blood flow velocity in perifoveal capillaries.
