Outcome of amniotic membrane transplantation in Kurume University Hospital

目的：眼球表面疾患に対する羊膜移植術の結果報告。対象：2004年までの7年間に羊膜移植術を行った63例71眼を対象とした。内訳は，翼状片33眼，角膜穿孔7眼を含む角膜潰瘍13眼，角結膜腫瘍9眼，瘢痕性角結膜症6眼，遷延性角膜上皮欠損3眼，そのほか7眼である。58眼では上皮再生促進，13眼では角膜潰瘍による実質充填を目的とした。結果：58眼中54眼（93％）で上皮が再生した。13眼中9眼（69％）で角膜実質充填が成功し，角膜が穿孔した7眼中2眼で再穿孔した。羊膜による感染が2眼に生じた。結論：角結膜上皮の再生促進に羊膜移植術は有効であるが，羊膜による感染と角膜の再穿孔に注意が必要である。

Purpose：To report the outcome of amniotic membrane transplantation for ocular surface diseases. Cases：This retrospective study comprised 71 eyes of 63 patients that received amniotic membrane transplantation during 7 years through 2004. The series comprised pterygium 33 eyes, corneal ulcer 13 eyes including 7 eyes of corneal perforation, corneal or conjunctival tumor 9 eyes, cicatricial keratoconjunctivitis 6 eyes, protracted corneal epithelial defect 3 eyes and other 7 eyes. Amniotic membrane was transplanted to promote epithelialization in 58 eyes and to fill corneal defect in 13 eyes. Results：The ocular surface became epithelialized in 54 out of 58 eyes（93％）. Corneal defect disappeared in 9 out of 13 eyes（69％）. The cornea reperforated in 2 out of 7 eyes. Infection due to amniotic membrane developed in 2 eyes. Conclusion：Amniotic membrane transplantation is useful for ocular surface diseases. Infection and corneal reperforation need due attention.
