Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of corneal opacity that was removed by adjunct use of epikeratome. Case:A 20-year-old woman had been diagnosed with bilateral granular corneal opacity at the age of 3 years. She had repeatedly been treated by corneal abrasion. When seen by us 4 years before, her corrected visual acuity was 0.1 right and 0.7 left. It improved to 1.0 right and 0.9 left after phototherapeutic keratectomy. Corneal opacity progressed further. After visual acuity decreased to 0.6 right and 0.7 left, both eyes received electrolysis with adjunct use of epikeratome. Corneal epithelial defect disappeared on day 4 of surgery. Visual acuity was 0.6 in either eye on day 7. Corneal thickness was 515μm right and 487μm left before and 480μm right and 490μm left after surgery. Use of epikeratome resulted in shorter duration of electrolysis. Conclusion:Adjunct use of epikeratome facilitated electrolysis of recurrent corneal opacity.
