Abstract. We reviewed the outcome of simultaneous cataract and glaucoma surgery in 326 eyes. The series comprised primary open-angle glaucoma 278 eyes and capsular glaucoma 48 eyes. Cataract surgery was performed by phacoemulsification-aspiration with intraocular lens implantation. Trabeculotomy was performed in 224 eyes and trabeculotomy with sinusotomy in 102 eyes. After surgery, the intraocular pressure(IOP)was significantly lower than the preoperative level in all the eyes(p<0.001)except on day 1 in the trabeculotomy group. At 42 months of surgery, the IOP remained below 18 mmHg in 64% in trabeculotomy group and in 98% in sinusotomy group. The IOP remained below 16 mmHg in 21% in the former and in 72% in the latter. The difference between the two groups was significant until 30 months of surgery(p<0.001)and at 36 months of surgery(p<0.02). The findings show that cataract surgery with trabeculotomy and sinusotomy is useful for eyes with cataract and glaucoma.
