  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

A 25-year-old male felt foreign body sensation in his right eye while working with a hammer. His bulbar conjunctiva showed hemorrhage and rupture in its temporal sector. Plain X-ray and B-mode echography showed negative findings. UBM showed a foreign body in the subconjunctival space. Another 66-year-old male felt pain while working with a mowing machine. A piece of iron was protruding 4mm posterior to the nasal limbus. B-mode echography gave negative findings. Computed tomography(CT)failed to show if it was an intraocular foreign body. UBM showed its posterior tip to be located within the sclera. These two cases illustrate that UBM is indicated when X-ray and CT fail to show the exact location or the size of a small foreign body in the anterior ocular segment.
