Purpose:To evaluate the possibility of impaired liver function following use of bromfenac sodium eyedrops for 3 months. Cases and Method:This prospective study included in 35 eyes of 20 cases who underwent cataract surgery. Their liver function was normal at the time of surgery. The series comprised 6 males and 14 females. The ages ranged from 69 to 86 years,average 75 years. They received instillation of bromfenac sodium twice daily for 3 months after cataract surgery. Results:Liver function tests,performed 1 and 3 months after surgery,gave normal values in all the cases. All the eyes showed normal course of visual recovery. There was no incidence of impaired corneal endothelium or cystoid macular edema. Conclusion:No case developed impaired liver function following instillation of bromfenac sodium ophthalmic solution for 3 months after cataract surgery.
