Purpose:To report the outcome of cyclophotocoagulation ab externo for neovascular glaucoma in a patient with internal carotid artery occlusion. Case:A 71-year-old male had diabetes mellitus for 20 years. He received uneventful cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation in both eyes. He later received panretinal photocoagulation. Rubeosis iridis in his left eye led to detection of internal carotid artery occlusion 8 months later. Intraocular pressure(IOP)remained at around 30 mmHg in spite of retinal photocoagulation because of peripheral anterior synechia. The left eye was treated by transscleral cyclophotocoagulation ab externo(Usui's method). Rubeosis iridis has disappeared with IOP ranging from 12 to 15 mmHg during 14 months until present. Conclusion:Cyclophotocoagulation ab externo(Usui's method)may be effective for rubeotic glaucoma secondary to internal carotid artery occlusion.
