We evaluated orange-red lesion in the peripapillary area of 8 myopic eyes using optical coherence tomography(OCT). The refraction ranged from -4.5 diopters(D)to -17.5D and averaged -9.75D. In the OCT cross-section,the orange-red lesion showed a slight retinal elevation. A clear empty space was present in the choroid. There was no separation between retinal pigment epithelium(RPE)and the choroid. The findings seemed to show that the orange-red lesion corresponds to choroidal schisis instead of RPE detachment. Scleral extension around the optic nerve in myopic eyes appeared to be the underlying cause.
