非特発性側弯症は，基礎疾患を有し，それぞれの病態(精神発達遅延，麻痺，骨脆弱性，四肢・関節の変形や拘縮など)の理解が重要である．これらの側弯は，乳幼児期から発症するいわゆる早期発症側弯症であり，成長温存手術(growth friendly surgery)による早期の手術介入を考慮に入れながら経過をみていく必要がある．
