　オリゴデンドログリアの低酸素・低グルコース状態誘発性の細胞障害に対して，ibudilastに保護効果が見い出された。ラットのO−2A前駆細胞より株化したCG−4 cellよりオリゴデンドログリア様に分化した細胞を用いた。12時間の低酸素・低グルコース状態によってオリゴデンドログリアに誘発される細胞障害はibudilast投与で抑制された。またnon-N-methyl-D-aspartate（non-NMDA）型グルタミン酸レセプター拮抗剤の6-cyano-7-nitroquinoxaline-2, 3-dione（CNQX）投与あるいは細胞外液中のCa^2＋の除去は細胞障害を抑制した。Ibudilastのphosphodiesterase阻害による細胞内cAMPの上昇が，non-NMDA型グルタミン酸レセプターを介するCa^2＋流入を抑制することが，その作用機序と考えられた。

Previously we have demonstrated that ibudilast, which is used clinically for treating patients with asthma and cerebrovascular diseases, prevents ex-citotoxicity of oligodendroglial lineage mediated by Ca²⁺ influx via non-N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) glutamate receptor (GluR) chalmels. We here present a finding that ibudilast prevents oxygen -glucose deprivation (OGD)-induced oligodendro-glial injury.
