  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

A rare case of postoperative circumscribed spinal adhesive meningitis caused by Moljodol myelography was reported.

A 58-year-old woman was first operated upon for her spinal meningioma 1942. when Moljodol was used for myelography.

Following the operation she was quite well for 15 years until she had gradually progressive symptoms of unsteadiness of gait. hypesthesia of the lower ex-tremities. finger tremor. headache and vertigo.

X-ray pictures at readmission revealed contrast medium in the spinal canal and the intra-cranial cavity.

At second operation in 1962, circumscribed spinal adhesive meningitis was found, but no recurrent tumor. Operative findings and histological study proved that adhesive meningitis was caused by residual Moljodol having remained for 20 years.

Recovery after second operation was satisfactory.
