  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Three cases of hydroencephalodysplasia were report-ed. Hydroencephalodysplasia is one of the congenital malformations, and is characterized by increased intra-cranial pressure and dysplasia of the brain. This malformation will be discovered among the cases of hydrocephalus in a fairly large number if we will keep our mind on the presence of the disease.

In our cases, angiography revealed most characte-ristic findings, and transillumination was useful in diagnosis of the disease.

By using ventriculoscope in one of our cases, we could see directly the defect of the brain without lar-ge craniotomy which might make the patient's condi-tion worse.

Subarachnoid-atrial shunting was performed upon all three cases with satisfactory results.
