　病巣の中心部で比較的RIとりこみが低く，これをとり囲んでRIとりこみの高い部分が環状に描出される，いわゆる"doughnut sign"は比較的まれにみられる所見である。

　われわれは過去約3年間にこの所見を呈した7例を経験したが，これは，陽性スキヤンの3.8％，全脳スキャニング症例の1.1％に相当する。そのうち4例を報告した。

　脳シンチグラム上の"doughnut sign"は，病変の病理診断に関しては大きな意義はないが，多くの場合，病巣内に嚢胞，壊死，出血巣などのavascular coreをもつことを示す。

An atypical radioisotopic image in brain scanning, the "doughnut sign", consists of the zone of increased uptake containing a central core of decreased acti-vity. Seven cases were found in 185 positive brain scans (3.8%) performed in the past 3 years. If all examinations performed during the period are considered, the incidence is 7 of 650 or 1.1%. The series includes 2 meningiomas, 2 glioblastomas, and 1 each of oligodendroglioma, cerebral infarction and encephalitis.

The "doughnut sign" has apparently no signi-ficant diagnostic value but seems to suggest that the pathologic focus contains avascular central core in most of cases.
