  • Look Inside

Clinical efficacy of TEA-5D (1,000μg of cya-nocobalamine and 20mg of thiamine tetrahyd-rofurfuryl disulfide) was evaluated on 28 cases of various neurological and psychiatric disor-ders. Most of these patients had previously been treated with various kinds of ordinary medicine for a month prior to start with TEA -5D, but had little favourable effect.

The drug was given intramuscularly once a day in the majority of the case and continued as long as 60 days without any untoward side effect.

Marked clinical improvement was obtained in 6 out of 9 cases of polyneuritis of various origin and in all the cases of subacute comb-ined degeneration of the spinal cord (funikul-äre Myelose), peripheral paralysis, trigeminal neuralgia and catatonic stupor. Moderate cli-nical effects were found in some case of amy-otrophic lateral sclerosis, spastic paraplegia of obscure etiology and hemiplegia.

It was also noted that the drug diminished a feeling of fatigue, stimulated reduced sexual desire and potency and promoted a sense of general well-being.

From these experience, it is concluded that TEA-5D is a new armament in the manage-ment of patients with the neurological and psychiatric disorders.
