脊髄空洞症様症状を呈した延髄脊髄腫瘍の一例

AN AUTOPSY CASE OF ASTROCYTOMA INVOLVING LOWER MEDULLA AND SPINAL CORD

まえがき

　脊髄腫瘍は脳腫瘍に比して少ないが，特に小児の脊髄腫瘍は少ないとされている。本邦における脊髄腫瘍の報告例も割合少なく，欧米における多数の症例にもとづいての統計的研究は，その多くが生検および手術材料によるもので，詳しい剖検報告にはなはだ乏しい。私共は最近脊髄空洞症様症状を呈した延髄脊髄腫瘍の一症例を経験したのでここに報告する。

An autopsy case of a 9 years old girl was reported, whose clinical features were extre-mely similar to those of syringomyclia over 5 years. The postmortem examination reve-aled a large tumor mass involved the medulla at the level of the oliva bulging posterio-superiorly, measuring 3.0×2.5×2.0 cm. The tumor was cystic and extended to the spinal cord down to the D5 segment. There was a cystic cavity in the posterior tract of the C6. Microscopically, principal part of the tumor consisted of bipolar fibrillated cells, which were characteristic of pilocytic type of astrocytoma. The clinical symptoms arised from the tumor itself, not directly from cystic cavity resulted from degeneration and lique-faction of the tumor cells.
