  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Having examined 100 cases of spike and wave complex and its clinical correlation, I came to the following conclusion.

1) I classified spike and wave complex in three types:

1st: diffuse classical type. (14%)

2nd: diffuse irregular type. (72%)

3rd: focal type. (14%)

2) These seizure patterns have, as a whole, clinical correlation not in so high degree as hitherto imagined, but when classified in three seizure patterns, they have comparati-vely close correlation. Petit mal and the 1st type have the closest correlation. Of petit mal triad, pyknoepilepsy alone has close correlation with the 1st type. Grand mal and psychomo-tor seizure have closer correlation with the 2nd and 3rd type than with the 1st type.

3) In the case of petit mal, especially of seizure pattern of pyknoepilepsy, the frequ-ency converges near 3c/sec and the fluctua-tion of the voltage of spike is small and ballanced.

4) The voltage of spike is larger in many of grand mal or psychomotor seizure than in petit mal. But the voltage of wave is generally larger in petit mal, smaller in grand mal.
