  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Three unsuccessful cases of brain tumor (hen's egg sized pituitary adenoma, 3rd ventricular tumor and 4th ventricular tumor) on which cocktail-M1) had been applied to control the postoperative ultra high tempera-ture and resulted in a serious hypotension were presented here. Of these two cases died from the irreversible hypotension. Such a risk of postoperative application of cock-tail-M1) in the case of brain tumor was also considered from the following point of view. Thus, it was disclosed by our experimental studies on the effects of autonomic nervous blocking agents upon the action potentials of sympathetic trunk and of vagal nerve with reference to the chages of EEG, ECG, respira-tory curve, body temperature, blood pressure, and other physical signs that, some of these drugs or some combinations of these drugs ——according to the doses or the methods of applications——did not block the both sympa-thetic trunk and vagal nerve at the same degree. These unbalance of autonomic ner-vous system brought about depression of blood pressure or other serious side-effects.
