  • Look Inside

EEG during all night natural sleep was recorded in 34 cases of intracranial diseases.Electroencephalographic changes in all stages of sleep and classification of sleep type by EEG in normal all night natural sleep were previously reported.

The 34 cases included 21 cases of cerebral tumor, 1 case of brain abccess, 5 cases of cerebrovascular disorders, 3 cases of depres-sed fracture of the skull, 3 cases with invo-luntary movement and 1 case of intracranial foreign body.

(1). Changes of waking records were roughly classified into the following 3 groups. Changes during sleep in each group are such as follo-ws.

14 cases of depressed fractures, cerebrovas-cular disorders, involuntary movements, etc.in which low voltage alpha wave, voltage difference in homologous leads, superimposed fast waves and EMG were seen, belong to the 1st group.

In the 1st group, fast was increased from the suppressed stage to the ripple stage. In 8 of 14 cases of this group spikes Were ob-served during the ripple and hump stages.Voltage difference in homologous leads was most frequently observed during the hump stage and the stage of mixture of humps and spindles.
