  • Look Inside

An interesting case, which presented a complex occipitoparietal syndrome after ence-phalomalacia, was reported.

The patient is a left handed farmer of 44 years of age, but has been using his right hand, when he uses a pencil, chopsticks and does other work except when he uses knife, shear, and cutlery.

The principal findings are as follows:

1) E.E.G.

a) Awaking record:

Suppressed irregular slow waves in the right cortex.

b) Aird's method:

Suppressed focus was observed in all parts of the right hemisphere, but the independency was more marken in parietal than in frontal lobe.

2) His capacity of copying was good. Spontaneous writing and dictation were obviously disturbed. The pa- tient showed amnestic dysphasia, too.

3) Neither right-left dysorientation, nor fingeragnosia were found, but dys- calculia, visual and spatial dysgno- sia, dressing dysplaxia were obser- ved.
