  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Selective coronary arteriography was performed in 33 pediatric patients (age : 6 months to 13 years old) having a history of MCLS or suspected coronary artery anomalies with a 100% success rate. Only one patient (3%) required femoral thrombectomy as a sole complication of this method. The catheters used were hand-made preshaped 4F or 5F Cook catheters after the shape of Judkins' catheters.

This method has been demonstrated to be safe and very effective, and important in the accurate diagnosis of MCLS or coronary artery anomalies and in the establishment of patient-management plan and surgical indications. We believe that selective coronary arteriography has now a definite place in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease or anomalies in the pediatric patient group, and cannot be substituted by the unselective method of aortic root injection. The method of selective coronary arteriography in children is now established.
