In about 60 cases of vascular disease, the amplitude of each pulse wave, the patterns of fluctuation of level, and the reaction of blood vessels for exogenous stimulation were in-vestigated with a use of reflexion photo-electric plethysmograph (R. P. P. G. ).

The results are summarized as follow:

1) In cases of Raynaud's disease, it was found that amplitude of each pulse wave is small, and the skin volume is increased (=dilatation of vessels) by an exogenous stimula-tion in the normal temperature or more higher temperature.

2) In cases of Buerger's disease, not only amplitudes of pulse waves in the indisposed extremity but also the fluctuations of level are small. The vasomotor reaction to the stimulation is obscure, but in the slight case dilatative.

3) In cases of occlusion of main artery, amplitudes of pulse waves of extremity with the occluded artery is small, and patterns of fluctuations of level are different between left and right side, and it was found on R. P. P. G. that vessels of indisposed side are in a state of vasospasm.

4) Aneurysm in the aorta shows no different pattern of fluctuations and pulse waves between both sides.

5) In diseases of the veins, amplitudes of pulse waves are small in the indisposed side. In the case of thrombus patterns of fluctuations are often different between left and right side.
