GAPPS(gastric adenocarcinoma and proximal polyposis of the stomach)is an autosomal dominant hereditary disease clinically characterized by fundic gland polyposis and gastric cancer. Recently, it has been reported that APC promoter 1B germline mutation is responsible for the occurrence of GAPPS. Although most GAPPS cases have been reported in western countries, some of them have been recently reported in Japan.

However, the etiology and detailed clinicopathological features of GAPPS remain unclear. Here, we describe the clinicopathological characteristics of GAPPS and hereditary diffuse gastric cancer.
