The fundamental diagnostic procedure for a primary lymphoma of the GI(gastrointestinal)tract is the same as for a lymphoma arising in other parts of the body. However, the difference is that the diagnosis of the lymphoma of the GI tract is frequently performed by obtaining small biopsy specimens via endoscopy. Although flow cytometry and other analyses are not routinely performed for the diagnosis of lymphoma of the GI tract at several institutions, subtyping according to the WHO classification is required for appropriate treatment. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare a system for multimetric and/or integrated analyses for the diagnosis of lymphoma of the GI tract. In many cases, obtaining multiple small biopsy specimens can be an extremely effective tool for performing different analyses, thereby leading to an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
