Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease are chronic IBDs(inflammatory bowel diseases)characterized by recurrence and the regeneration of ulcerations. IBDs present various endoscopic findings, which makes differential diagnosis difficult. This review focuses on the characteristic findings in IBDs, including a cobblestone appearance, inflammatory polyposis, and multiple elevated lesions. These lesions are non-neoplastic changes caused by inflammation and edema in the intestine. Understanding the specific findings in the different sections of the intestine, as well as the elevated areas, is the key to the differential diagnosis of IBDs.
