IGRA(interferon-γ release assay)is rapidly replacing TST(tuberculin skin test)as an auxiliary diagnostic test for IT(intestinal tuberculosis). The advantage of IGRA is that the influence of BCG vaccination and of most nontuberculous acid-fast bacilli can be eliminated. However, a strongly positive TST is meaningful for diagnosing the active disease. The diagnostic accuracy of IGRA is not satisfactory, and some cases of IT appear as false-negatives. Since the discrepancy between the TST and IGRA is evident, the significance of the TST should be reconsidered.
