Endoscopic findings of superficial-type malignant lymphoma of the stomach, especially MALT (mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue) lymphoma of the stomach, vary. This is one of the diseases that are difficult to endoscopically diagnose. Examination of the disappearance of the glandular structure and characteristically branched abnormal blood vessels using magnifying NBI (narrow band imaging), which has been routinely used in Japan, may markedly improve the diagnostic capacity for MALT lymphoma of the stomach. In addition, magnifying endoscopy, which appeared during the past few years, may advance diagnostics of MALT lymphoma of the stomach to the next stage.
