要旨　日本では，上部および下部消化管の検査を行っても原因が不明な消化管出血に対して，2種類の小腸用カプセル内視鏡〔PillCam^TM SB（ギブン・イメージング），Endo Capsule（オリンパス）〕が保険適用になっている．本稿では，それら小腸用カプセル内視鏡のシステムとメカニズムおよび検査法について述べ，PillCam^TM SBとRAPID^（R） 5 Accessによる出血性小腸疾患診断のための読影法とカプセル内視鏡検査の標準用語集であるCEST（capsule endoscopy structured terminology）について紹介した．

　Two types of capsule endoscopy〔PillCam^TM SB（Given^® Imaging）, Endo Capsule（Olympus）〕are permitted for obscure GI（gastrointestinal）bleeding after upper and lower GI examination in Japan. In this paper, we described the system, mechanisms and procedure of these capsule endoscopies. In addition, we introduced CEST（capsule endoscopy structured terminology）and our reading method for diagnosis of mid GI bleeding using PillCam^TM SB and RAPID^® 5 Access.
