NST(Nutrition Support Team)は，さまざまな形の栄養障害に対して，総合的な対応を行うチームであり，病院における栄養管理の主流となっている．NST活動において栄養摂取法を検討する場合，まずはじめに経口摂取の可否が問題となり，全栄養摂取量における経口摂取量の割合を検討する必要がある．現在，経口摂取の評価や検討は多くの施設において，言語聴覚士が中心となって行っている．
適確な経口摂取を実現するためには「機能評価・予後予測・リスク管理」を行うことが重要であり，これらは，言語聴覚士がNST活動を行ううえでのポイントになる．特に誤嚥性肺炎に関する患者のリスク管理は重要であり，言語聴覚士が摂食・嚥下機能の評価や訓練に加えてリスク管理を徹底すれば，理想的な形での経口摂取が実現し，チーム活動のうえでもより重要な役割を担うことができる．
安全な経口摂取のためのリスク管理のポイントと栄養管理の重要性を含めて，NSTにおける言語聴覚士の役割について検討した．
The Nutrition Support Team (NST) is a team which deals with various nutrition disorders and plays a key role in nutritional management in hospitals. When considering dietary intake methods, it is important for the NST to review the percentage of the oral intake possible for the patient relative to all types of nutritional intake. In many facilities, it is the speech-language-hearing therapist who evaluates the oral intake ability of a patient. In order to achieve an appropriate oral intake for each patient, it is important to evaluate the patient's functions, make a prognosis, and manage possible risks. Prevention of aspiration pneumonia is particularly important. Speech-language-hearing therapists should be thoroughly involved in risk management in addition to the evaluation and treatment of swallowing/feeding functions. This paper reviews the role of the speech-language-hearing therapist in NST regarding both risk management and nutritional management.
