血液培養結果を臨床で十分に生かすためには，まずは適切な採取タイミングで，適切な採血量で採取することが重要である．血液培養の結果解釈では，検出された微生物が真の原因微生物かコンタミネーションであるかの見極めを必要とする．血液培養検査が適切に行われているかどうかは精度管理にて管理する．その場合，総入院患者数当たりの採取セット数，複数セット採取率，コンタミネーション率などが参考になる．ただし，これらの指標の値は本邦と諸外国間では異なる可能性があるため，本邦の統計を得て精度管理に生かしていく必要がある．

In order to fully utilize the result of blood cultures, it is important to draw blood at correct localities, with a suitable amount of blood.　Regarding interpretation of the result, one has to assess if the result indicates contamination or true bacteremia.　The process of blood culture has to be assessed by quality control measures.　The number of blood cultures per the total number of patient-days, the rate of contamination, and the rate of multiple blood cultures are validated by Quality Control measures.　However, the values of these indicators may differ between Japan and foreign countries.　It is necessary to obtain statistics of this country for quality control.
