全自動細菌同定・感受性検査装置はこの20余年で大きく進歩したが，新たな微生物同定手法としてMALDI-TOF MSによるMALDIバイオタイパーが発売され，同定検査の迅速化，低コスト化，精度向上が期待されている．しかし，感受性検査は実施不可能なことから，どのように検査工程を組み合わせてゆくかは今後のさらなる課題である．

There have been marked improvements in fully automated bacterial identification and susceptibility test instruments over the past two decades.　A new bacterial identification system named MAILDI Bio Typer, which uses MALDI-TOF MS, is now available.　This device reduces costs, improves accuracy, and speeds up the process of bacterial identification.　However, the device cannot be used for susceptibility testing.　In future, it will be necessary to examine which test procedures and methodologies can be combined with this device.
