ブレイクポイントは感染症治療において臨床的に重要な目安になるが，原則として細菌学的ブレイクポイントとされるCLSIブレイクポイント，臨床的ブレイクポイントである日本化学療法学会ブレイクポイントおよびPK-PDブレイクポイントがある．しかし，いずれのブレイクポイントに関しても今後の改訂に当たっては臨床的検討が必要である．

Breakpoint is clinically important in the treatment of infectious diseases.　There are three versions or expressions of breakpoint ; CLSI (Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute) breakpoint, JSC (Japanese Society of Chemotherapy) breakpoint, and PK-PD (pharmacokinetics-pharmacodynamics) breakpoint.　Clinical investigation is necessary for any future revision of each of these versions of breakpoint.
