I．はじめに
トロトラストThorotrastは，1930年から1945年にかけて，hepato-spleno graphy，arterio graphyの造影剤として広く使用された14）18）20）。この物質は，放射能を有する重金属顆粒であり，ほとんど体外に排泄されない。その後，一部例外的な適応を除いてはその使用を禁止されている。われわれは約30年前に脳血管撮影が行なわれ，この時使用されたトロトラストに起因すると思われる症例を経験したので，ここに報告する。
A case of cervical tumor caused by instillation of thorotrast in a man, aged 46 is reported. The agent was instilled into the cervical aorta for cerebral angiography 30 years ago. The greater portion of the agent remained in the neck which formed a granulomatous mass and caused dyspnea and dysphagia. An attempt at removal of the tumor was made with only a partial success. The patient died from a profuse hemorrhage caused by aortic fistula the result of constant pressure of the tumor on the aorta.
Necropsy showed microscopic deposits of thorotrast in the liver but none in the spleen nor the lymphatic glands.
