両側外頸動脈結紮の問題—われわれの経験した3例に就いて

　I．はしがき

　耳鼻咽喉科領域における特発性又は手術に起因する出血に際して，われわれはまず止血剤の使用および局所処置を考える。しかし種々の止血剤やタンポン処置にもかかわらず，止血不可能な多量の出血を反復する症例に遭遇することがあるが，この場合外頸動脈結紮を必要とするばあいがあるが，最近われわれは一側外頸動脈結紮のみでは止血の目的を達することができず，両側外頸動脈結紮をおこなった症例ならびに多量の出血が予想される手術に先だつて，あらかじめ両側外頸動脈同時結紮をした症例を経験したので報告し，さらに両側外頸動脈結紮に関する一般的問題について考察を加えてみたいと思う。

In 3 cases we called upon to perform a bi-lateral carotid ligation ; in no case was there complications or ill after effects because of this procedure.

In the first case the right external carotid was ligated to stop a profuse nasal hemorrh-age in a woman, aged 50. Two weeks later ligation of the left external carotid was nec-essiated in the same patient of further blee-ding.

In the second case a man, aged 23,the ex-ternal carotid on either side of the neck was ligated as a precautionary measure for opera-tion of nasopharyngeal fibroma.

Similar bilateral ligations were performed in a man, aged 62 as a preparatory measure in operation of a pharyngeal cancer.
